IPL 2026: LSG vs RR Match Report Lucknow Return Ends in Disappointment

Lucknow Super Giants suffered a 40-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in their seventh fixture of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.

Opting to bowl first, the Super Giants produced a disciplined performance with the ball. Mohammed Shami made an immediate impact, dismissing in-form batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel in the third over to put early pressure on the opposition. The momentum continued as Mohsin Khan delivered a wicket-maiden in the following over, tightening control during the powerplay.

The bowling unit maintained discipline throughout the innings, with Prince Yadav returning figures of 2/29 and Mohsin finishing with an impressive 2/17. Backed by sharp fielding, the Royals were restricted to 159/6 in their 20 overs.

In response, the chase of 160 proved challenging as the Super Giants struggled to build sustained partnerships. Mitchell Marsh led the effort with a composed 55 off 41 balls, keeping hopes alive, but regular setbacks derailed the pursuit.

Despite the result, LSG will take encouragement from their cohesive bowling performance as they look to regroup ahead of their upcoming clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 26—a side they have already defeated earlier this season.
