CSK vs MI highlights: Sanju Samson stole the show with a brilliant unbeaten 101 as Chennai Super Kings produced a commanding performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by 103 runs in an IPL 2026 clash between the two five-time champions on Thursday.
Opting to bowl first, MI failed to contain CSK as Samson anchored the innings superbly, striking his fifth IPL century and second for the franchise in just four innings, guiding Chennai Super Kings to a strong total of 207/6 despite regular wickets falling around him.
In response, Mumbai Indians suffered a dramatic batting collapse and were bundled out for 104 in 19 overs, registering their heaviest defeat in IPL history. Tilak Varma (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (35) offered brief resistance, but the rest of the lineup faltered under pressure at the Wankhede.
CSK’s bowling unit delivered a clinical effort, with Akeal Hosein starring with 4/17 in his third appearance this season, while Noor Ahmed impressed with 2/23, as the spin duo dismantled MI’s middle order. Earlier, Samson’s composed yet aggressive knock included 10 fours and six sixes off 54 balls, holding the innings together brilliantly.
For Mumbai, AM Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar picked up two wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah remained economical with 1/31 in an otherwise difficult outing for the home side.
